MAVUNO Girls’ Model Secondary School is an initiative designed to empower women in need in the Kagera Region in Tanzania, Africa. MAVUNO’s vision is to create a female secondary school that will provide an outstanding educational experience to girls aged between 14 and 20 years.
The school is located in Chonyonyo village in the Karagwe District and it is functioning as a rural “Education and Research Center”, which :
• Inspire students to access knowledge, cutting-edge technology resources and opportunities that positively advance
their academic and future career aspirations.
• Support them in becoming confident individuals, responsible citizens and ethical leaders.
• Expose the girls to the “best practices” in sustainable agriculture and livelihood oriented economic ventures, appropriate energy technologies and health education that promote family and community life.
• Focus is on building practical experiences and acquire a full mix of hands-on skills – including arts and music, cultural activities,
sports, science and laboratory work, animal husbandry, agro-forestry, seed storage and farming, marketing of processed farm products and many.
